I don't have the wole list worked out, but some important ones that are not on CDawg's list:
Everybody Love Raymond
Full House
Family Matters
Perfect Strangers
Get Smart

Good call on MASH and Scrubs. Bad call on Cheers.

If this is just personal opinion, then you know I'll have something to say.

1. Arrested Development
2. The Office
3. The Simpsons
4. Seinfeld
5. WKRP in Cincinatti
6. The Bob Newhart Show

I can't think of any others. Clearly, I need to watch more TV. Is there a Canadian counterpart to this?

Good call on the 'I Love Lucy'.

There are a lot of totally awesome shows exclueded from my list (Family Ties, Golden Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond), but I focused my list on sitcoms that were revolutionary(either socially or artistically/of the times, etc) or were so immensly popular that they must be on the list.

1. I love Lucy
2. Mary Tyler Moore Show
3. All In the Family I've never really seen this show, but felt it must be on the list
4. Bob Newhardt Show (any of his shows)
5. M*A*S*H ( I hate this show, but on the list it must be)
6. Soap
7. The Cosby Show
8. Seinfeld
9. Friends
10. The Simpsons

Shows that will make this list after they've aged and we can see the impact they've had:
1. Scrubs
2. Arrested Development
3. My Name is Earl

These are all shows that (a) I like (which is why I don’t list I Love Lucy or All in the Family, despite their cultural significance, (b) I continue to enjoy as an adult (which is why I don’t list The Cosby Show or Diff’rent Strokes), and (c) are not totally obvious (which is why I don’t list the Simpsons, Seinfeld, or Friends)

1-NewsRadio (Watch it, people. Watch it!)
2-Sports Night (arguably not a sitcom, but it was 30 minutes long and had a laugh track for part of its run)
3-Newhart (the Vermont one, not that the psychologist one wasn’t brilliant)
4-Scrubs (I am a recent convert)
5-The Golden Girls
6-The Office (U.K., not that Office U.S. isn’t brilliant)
7-Arrested Development (Jason Bateman rules)
8-Soap
9-Family Ties (Michael J. Fox rules)
10-WKRP in Cincinnati (NewsRadio owes a great debt to this show. Also, the theme song rules. I need to watch it.)
